Welcome to the form for the Editor Connection Program (ECP) for the 2027 online Atlanta Writers Club Atlanta Self-Publishing Conference.
Program Pricing: $50 to $100 (plus a payment processing fee).
This program connects authors looking for editors with editors looking for new clients.
It provides an opportunity for attendees to get a sense of what working with an editor is like in the hopes that they will see the value in hiring a professional for each of their projects.
By participating in this program, you are considered one of the ASPC's "Advertisers." This is is why our advertiser guidelines are included below.
HOW IT WORKS
Please note that any professional editor around the world can participate in this program.
You do not need to be a resident of Atlanta or Georgia in order to participate.
You do not have to attend the conference as a vendor in order to participate.
Macro (developmental / substantive) and micro (line / copy) editors are both welcome to participate.
1. Your Business Email Address is Given Access to the Google Sheet(s) You Purchased
Within 1 - 2 weeks after registration, you will receive an email. This email will be an invitation to a Google Sheet. Sheet access will only be given to the email you use when registering below (business email).
This email address will be the only one given access to however many category sheets you purchase. We highly recommend using an email address you check frequently or, for those of you working with a team, an email address that pertinent members of your team have ready access to.
If you attempt to access the sheet from a different email account, you will not be able to access the sheet (requesting edit access will not change this, so please do not waste time by sending these requests).
Each category sheet will contain the contact information and samples of anyone who decides to submit a sample to the ECP in the genre(s) you select on this registration page.
EXAMPLE: You register with [email protected] and purchase the "Fantasy," "Historical Fiction," and "Other" categories. A week or two later, you receive an email giving [email protected] access to the Google Sheets for those categories ("Fantasy," "Historical Fiction," and "Other"). If you try to access the sheets from some other random email address ([email protected], for example) you won't be able to because that email address doesn't have permission to access the spreadsheets because you didn't register for this program with that email address.
2. Registrants upload their submissions when they are ready for a sample edit.
When a registrant signs up for the conference, they will be given access to forms that will allow them to upload their samples to the genre(s) in which they belong. Once submitted, their contact information and sample file will be populated in the corresponding Google Sheet (self-help samples will show up on the self-help spreadsheet, historical fiction samples will show up on the historical fiction sheet, etc.).
EXAMPLE: Doba registers for the conference. She accesses the "Other" category form because she has a poetry book she's working on. Doba completes the form. Her submission will show up on the "Other" spreadsheet with her contact information and a link to the file she uploaded.
3. Editors check their respective spreadsheets regularly
Upon checking the spreadsheet (we recommend doing so weekly), when you see a new addition, you simply do the following:
- Download the sample (if you purchase the "Other" category, make sure the genre matches what you specialize in first).
- Apply your skills to the sample.
- Draft (or copy-and-paste from a template to save time!) an email introducing yourself and your company and orienting the author to the kind of editing your provided and how it could be beneficial to their full manuscript.
- Attach the sample edit to the email and send it to the email address for that author.
- Move on to the next sample that you haven't worked on yet (or, for the "Other" category, the next available sample that fits your genre).
4. Continue on as you would for anyone else you provided a sample edit for
At this point, it's up to the registrant whether or not they would like to interact with you further (including asking questions, scheduling a call, hiring you, etc.) and you're free to move on to the next sample that becomes available on the sheet(s) you purchased. We incentivize interaction with editors via the new Authorship Amplifier program, which provides additional prize drawing entries to any registrants who reply to your email.
ASPC2026 Stats
The previous setup was markedly different from this iteration of the ASPC, so we're anticipating these numbers getting even better for the 2027 campaign!
☼ Average number of referred writers: 8
☼ Average writer response rate: 60%
☼ Average number of paid clients secured after sample edit was completed: 2
☼ Average number of strong prospects ("warm leads") secured after sample edit was completed: 3
REGISTER NOW
1. Provide the requested information about your business, including which category spreadsheets you would like access to.
2. Submit your fee(s).
3. Await confirmation of your registration, which can take 1 - 2 calendar weeks in some cases. We will let you know if we need further information or have run into any problems with admitting you into the program.
AFTER REGISTRATION
Once you are confirmed:
1. We will announce your participation in the program across our social media profiles and attendee newsletter.
2. You will be given access to the referral sheet(s) you've purchased.
3. As attendees begin to register for the conference, you will begin receiving samples of manuscripts to do sample edits for, including the names and email addresses of their authors.
Referrals are sent as people register for the program in real time. This means there is no set schedule on which you will receive new referrals (every Tuesday, the first of the month, etc.).
We recommend that you check your referral spreadsheet at least once each week to see if any new registrants have been assigned to your sheet (i.e., every Monday morning, every Tuesday and Friday night, etc.).
Participants are not told when they will receive their edited samples, so there's no rush even if you sign up for a category after it already has multiple attendees' samples in it. Just get started with providing your sample edits and submitting those to the authors as soon as you can. This means there's no such thing as being "too late" to provide a sample and show an author what you have to offer.
FORM COMPLETION
Please complete the form as fully and accurately as possible. Leaving out or not having information that we're looking for can lead to your registration confirmation being delayed if we have to contact you to ask further questions.
A payment processing fee will be calculated and added at checkout. Please check the amount you will be charged BEFORE submitting your payment. It's much easier to prevent a payment issue than to correct one after the fact.
